It is a 1500-ton hydraulic press, donated by Dean Presnall. The multi-anvil device consists of two split retaining rings which housed three push wedges in the top and bottom rings. The pressure chamber is designed to adopt 32-mm WC cube. Experiments can be performed at pressures up to 27 GPa and over 2000 ˚C.
