Catharine “Cassie” Conley joins us from NASA as a visiting scientist working with Andrew Steele. She is working on developing tools to assess and improve the statistical confidence in interpretation of measurement relating to detection of biological signals against high levels of background contamination. Specifically, she’ll undertake Bayseian statistical analysis of Mars sample datasets to understand the usefulness of this technique to life detection questions on Mars and other solar system bodies.
