The Geophysical Laboratory and DTM have a joint library that supports advanced research in the physical, earth, and space sciences. The library subscribes to more than 200 scientific journals and reference databases and holds 10,000 technical books, maps, and reports.

Carnegie's Geophysical Laboratory, located in Washington, D.C., maintains a modern machine shop with state-of-the-art CNC capabilities. This includes a Cincinnati Milacron 12 tool CNC lathe, a Tormach 15L Slant-PRO CNC Lathe, a Matsura ES-550V CNC mill with 30 tool holder, an Okamoto 820 surface grinder, and a new AgieCharmilles CUT 200 Sp wire cut EDM machine with a DRILL 20 starting hole machine. The machines may be reserved for use by GL staff through the internal website reservation system.
