Join the Geophysical Laboratory as we kick-off our 2018-19 Neighborhood Lecture Series with GL Director, Mike Walter.  He will present, "Deep Blue Planet."  Doors open at 6pm, lecture at 6:30pm.

Earth is a water world. More than 70 percent of Earth’s surface is covered in water, and the presence of water allowed the emergence of life on our planet and has sustained it for  billions of years. But where did Earth’s water come from? Why is our planet apparently so wet and other planets so dry?  Water is not only on the outside of our planet, but there may be oceans of water on the inside as well. How much water is inside and how does it get there and get back out again? What is the role of Earth’s interior in regulating water at the surface? Walter will investigate these questions as he probes the depths of our “deep blue planet.”
